Providence

Junior College of Education

(Estd. 1934)

Welcome !

The Providence Institution for the elementary teachers training was established by the Salesian Missionaries of Mary Immaculate and administered through their Nagpur Marysalian Society (Regd.) to impart teacher’s education primarily for women of the Roman Catholic Christian community but not excluding others, irrespective of caste creed with priority of the needy and deserving.

THE  PRINCIPAL SPEAKS

Our patron Saint Francis de Sales considered knowledge as the  eighth sacrament. Attuned to his teaching we SMMI believe that true education is directed towards the  formation of the  human person in view of his ultimate goal and good of the  soceity

Our training is not Examination Oriented.  We form the  minds and hearts of our students to develop their potentialities and thus to take their rightful place as good citizen and worthy members of Society.  We as Educationalists are proud of this task because we have the  privilege to be the  makers of a great nation.  This demands a lot of sacrifice, labour and dedication.  We as Educators keep our spirit high even in the  face of trials and dificulties, so as to let our light shines clearly to the  students.  Thus to spread the  Gospel flames, filled with the  dynamism of Mother Marie Gertrude our co-foundres to the  far end of the  world.

Providence Training College has witnessed many changes.  When past students visit the College they feel proud and yet exclaim Oh! everything has changed, building, staff, facilities etc. This used to be in this particular way in our time-but now it is different.  Yet this Institution has preserved its aims and objectives and zealously kept the  Nobel tradition handed down to us by the  past principals and dedicated teachers.  It has inculcated dignity of Labour and Zeal to be ideal teacher in its former and present students.  The  performance of the  past students is a testimony to this fact. The  education policy of SMMI is to provide integral knowledge whereby the  students develop all aspects of life; thus enablling them to active participants in building a new society.
